Truck Accident Report

One of the most important prerequisites for a truck driver to receive a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a clean driving record. If that is the case and the trucker is awarded his commercial driver's license, they will then have a permanent driving record in a national database monitoring their safety record through the rest of their career. One of the penalties for being liable for a truck accident is the fact that a truck accident report is filed on that permanent driving record and could affect their business for years. Even two serious moving violations or accidents with fatalities added to your truck accident report within 3-years can result in a CDL suspension from 90 days to 5 years. Other violations on your truck accident report can lead to a lifetime suspension.

Fast Facts

  • In some states, if a potential trucker applying for a CDL is involved in an accident during their initial driving test, they fail the test and must begin the application process again.
  • Regular truck inspections are required by both the driver and law enforcement officials. If a truck fails and is out of service, being caught driving that truck can lead to a 1-year suspension.
